Summary: Goblet twisted compound stem and foot. Colourless and blue metal. Base of bowl with boss joins merese collar. The 'verre a serpent' stem consists of a finely twisted tube, vertically aligned and looped to form a ring at the base, with tightly wound coils enveloping the stem above. The coiled section is further embellished by opposing pincered 'wings' (one incomplete). The end of the coil has been wrapped over and terminates in a blob of blue glass. The stem ? joins (not certain) a capstan section. The complete foot has a partially folded edge. The pontil mark is unpolished. Found in a brick-lined cellar.
