Summary: Taperstick: short straight holder with everted and inturned rim; on ball knop above baluster with collar at top and large tear extending into annular knop and basal cushion knop; on blown domed and terraced foot. One of a pair (but with slight differences in shape of tear), see 34.139/88. Wedge-shaped metal sliver trapped in top ball knop (as on 88): the reason for this is not known.
