See large image candlestickAccession number: 34.139/418Material: glass; lead glass Measurements: H 220 mm; DM (holder, exterior) 62 mm; DM (holder, interior) 25 mm; DM (foot) 115 mm; WT 326 gm Museum Section: Decorative Art Summary: Candlestick: saucer-topped holder with close spiral ribbing; on triple merese and beaded capstan knop with single row of double bubbles; on inverted baluster stem ('Silesian'), drawn from octagonal ribbed mould with faint lozenges at shoulder, with quadruple-coil collar at base; on beaded capstan knop and blown domed foot with spiral ribbing (probably from same mould as holder). Large flat chip on shoulder; edge chip on foot. Pair with 34.139/417, but stem moulding is much less crisp. Location: Object stored at Mortimer Wheeler House (Ceramics and Glass store) |
