Summary
Excavations in 1974 revealed the foundations, mostly robbed out, of a masonry building about 8m square, as well as traces of timber buildings, well-preserved timber-lined drains and a water-storage tank, and ditches to the S. The evidence of coins, a notable assemblage of late samian pottery, and belt-fittings suggests that the building was a military watch tower or signal tower of late 3rd-4th-c date.
