Summary

Archive summary: Excavations in the crypt of the church unearthed approximately 1000 burials, nearly 400 of which were found with coffin plate information, giving their name, age and date of death. Dates of birth ranged from 1646-1852 and dates of death from 1729 (when the church was consecrated) to 1852. Many of the individuals were of Hugenot descent and a large proportion had been involved in the silk industry, some as prosperous master weavers and others as journeyman weavers.
