Summary

Rescue excavation in 1976 included a section through the Moorfields marsh which revealed deposits to a depth of some 10m, and showed that the construction of buildings was preceded by large-scale reclamation by dumping in the 16th c. A quantity of well-preserved leather of that date was recovered.
