Summary

See Also: 'London Archaeologist Round-up 1995': Two test pits were dug against the bases of the flying buttresses of Westminster Hall (renovated c 1399), and one against a late 19th-c building. The buttress bases were refaced in brick and underpinned with concrete, but it is unclear whether they had been entirely rebuilt at the end of the 19th c. The test pits also revealed glacial sand cut by a posthole and sealed by alluvial sand and then clay, the latter cut by a possibly 19th-c feature.
