Statement on 20 May 2017

A spokesperson for the Museum of London said:

“We are deeply embarrassed about what happened today. We are sincerely sorry and express our apologies to the group who were personally affected as well as to the wider Sikh community. It is contrary to everything that we stand for as a museum for all Londoners which is open to everybody. We will be reviewing our security procedures immediately to ensure this never happens again. The museum’s Director, Sharon Ament, will be doing her best to personally contact and meet with those affected.”
