After submission, your story is sent to the Postcodes project site moderator. They will check that your story is appropriate to display on the site.
If it is wholly appropriate they will authorise your story and it will be displayed on the site.
If it is largely appropriate they may either contact you to request amendments or make direct amendments
If it is largely or wholly inappropriate it will not be displayed on the site.
Appropriateness will be evaluated in terms of relevance to the purpose of the site. Due consideration will also be given to potentially obscene, defamatory or otherwise offensive elements to the material.
The Museum of London will not check the story for factual accuracy. It is the author's responsibility to check all facts before submitting the story.
The Museum of London does not accept responsibility for any inconvenience or loss arising from factually inaccurate material submitted to the project and published on the website.
The Museum of London may use your story or images as part of another display, for educational or promotional purposes in any media. The Museum of London may also grant permission for other selected organisations to use the material in comparable ways.
Your personal information will not be displayed to the public, used for any other purpose, or transferred to any other organisations for any reason. Please note that you can choose whether to have your name published with the story. If you choose to publish your name, it will be displayed on the website alongside your story and may be used alongside any reproductions of your work. If you choose not to have your name published it will not be displayed to the public in any location.
Any material submitted remains copyright of the original creator(s).
Submission of material constitutes the granting of a perpetual non-exclusive license to use and display the material in the Postcodes project website, and to reproduce it for display, educational and promotional purposes in all media, and to transfer such rights to other selected organisations.
All images created in the last 70 years are protected by copyright law and cannot be used without the permission of the creator.
The Museum of London accepts images to illustrate your story on condition that you created the image and hold the copyright.
If you want to use an image created by another person it is your responsibility to trace that person and gain their permission to reproduce it before you submit your story.
The Museum of London accepts stories and images in good faith does not accept responsibility for checking copyright permissions or any liabilities arising from copyright infringements.
