This painting is called An Historical Guide to Shoreditch, how to visit the ruins. Artist Adam Dant lives in Shoreditch and made the work in 2001. The painter based his work on his daily observations of life in Shoreditch. What he has depicted expresses his views on the effects technology has on society.

Shoreditch artist

Adam Dant studied at the Royal College of Art in London. In 2002 he won the Jerwood drawing prize for his work 'Anecdotal Plan of Tate Britain'. He has a unique, cartooning style that mixes historical events and places with his thoughts on city life and the art world.
