Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park

I love walking in the cemetery on a sunny day. Even though it's not big it's so overgrown and the paths wind in and out so it's easy to get lost and feel miles away from the bustle of the east end.

The cemetery itself dates from the same period as its more famous cousin in Highgate. This also has some great gothic corners.

Most of the people buried there are 'ordinary' but many are still cared for and remembered.

It's managed as a nature reserve now, great for the wild plants and animals that live there, idle wanderers like me who can enjoy the wild strawberries if they know where to look, and more organised types who can participate in the events and volunteer work days run regularly through the education centre.
