As part of the development of the Postcodes project, the Museum of London staff got in touch with Shagufta at EC1 New Deal for Communities. We had worked together before and wanted to continue the partnership.

Lynda and Shagufta had several meetings to plan everything in advance.

A group of people from EC1 came to the for the first time Museum on Saturday 9 July. They met Jane and Lynda from the Museum and Brenda, a freelance tutor who worked with them to brainstorm ideas about their stories and take some photos.

Some people took pictures of friends and family. Others chose a favourite object to photograph.

On the next Saturday people came back to the museum and did some work on the stories to go with their pictures.

The final Saturday was a busy one, the group had to finish writing their stories, and put them in to the website. They also got a tour of the museum from S. I. Martin, a cultural historian.

I hope that everyone who took part enjoyed the experience, that other people will be interested to read the stories, and perhaps even be inspired to write a story of their own.
