If you want to find a true taste of historical village life whilst still being in the capital then nowhere is better than Stoke Newington. Its hip and stylish Church Street wends it's crooked way from West to East and it's colourful, garish and tempting High Road from South to North. The tall Georgian buildings give way to the sprawl of the cemetry with tomb stones crammed in with spring blooms. The beautiful, tamed, Clissold Park lies to the West and the walk between the two is a merry riot of culture, colour, the ancient, old and very, very new. It is a beautiful little place to while away one's time, with history and excitment pulsing through the very ground beneath your feet. Enjoy! |
