North campus of London Metropolitan University has a long and rich history, which started in 1896, when the campus was entitled as the Northern Polytechnic Institute. The campus was established with contribution of London Parochial Charities funds and large donations from the Clothworkers' Company of London. |

The first building of the campus, designed by Charles Bell, was opened in 1896 on Holloway Road. Afterward, additional buildings were constructed in Benwell and Hornsey Roads, as the original building on Holloway Road was overcrowded. |

Later in 1970s, Northern Polytechnic Institute joined with the North Western Polytechnic, establishing the Polytechnic University of North London. Afterward in 1992, Polytechnic acquired the right to name the university and honor its own degrees. In 2002, this University became North Campus of London Metropolitan University. |
