Cafés

by Douglas Mcleod

In the 60’s close to Forest Hill Station was a café complete with pin tables and juke box. I remember once going in there to find a number of unknown Rockers lounging around.

Keeping my cool I approached the juke box but due to an excessively nervous finger I pushed the wrong button and the unmistakable voice of Haley Mills ensued singing ‘Lets get together’. A tragic error on my part.

There was also across the road from the café a typical 1960’s coffee bar called the Alpine presumably catering for the more ‘mod’ market.
