Streatham Common |

I have always lived in south London, I was born in Kingston and have moved east and west but always below the river. I love cycling across a bridge to get into work and town. My mother who was born in the '30s said that she remembers the train going over Chelsea Bridge into Victoria, and looking at the smoke coming out of the Battersea Power Station. |

The best thing about living south is the parks and commons, near my house are Clapham/Streatham/Wandsworth/Tooting Common(s) and Battersea/Brockwell Parks. The lido in Brockwell has been renovated and swimming there is just fantastic, lets hope this year summer is better than last year (less rain and cold wind) !!! |

People have a negative image of south London they think it is dangerous, but it is not, it is a community. We have our problems as do all areas. This part of London is the 'soul and heart' of the city. All the real workers live here in the suburbs, we keep zone one and two pumping and moving. We live here becasue we have to, were born here, or just want to be able to live somewhere for a reasonable price with lots of green. Who wants to pay double the rent to live in the urban jungle of the north??? |
