Kensal Green Cemetery
The Cemetery of All Souls, Kensal Green, is London's oldest public
cemetery. The first burial took place there in 1833. Kensal Green was one
of a number of commercial cemeteries opened in London in the early 19th
century to deal with the capital's expanding population. Many famous
people are buried there, including the engineers Marc Isambard Brunel and
Isambard Kingdom Brunel and the novelists Wilkie Collins, Anthony Trollope
and William Makepeace Thackeray.
