Childhood recollection of Woodchester Street

I have very early recollections of Woodchester Street from when I was about 4: the man on his bike turning the gas lights on with a long pole, of bonfire night when people would bring old furniture out into the street for a communal bonfire.

I remember the pie and mash shop adjacent to the Collosseum 'flea pit' on the Harrow road. Senior Street school and St Mary Magdalen Church. We lived in Woodchester Street moving on to John Aird Court until leaving to live in Oxford around 1950ish. Fond memories!
