Creating an Emergency Plan (1 of 3)
Who develops Emergency Plans?
The development of Emergency Plans can be carried out by a range of people and will often depend on the size of an organisation:
- In a large museum, representatives from all departments should be involved - and Conservation/Collections Care will be one of these
- In smaller museums, the responsibility often lies with a trustee, manager or curator
- Emergency services, such as the Fire Brigade, can work with organisations to ensure they have the information they need to work as efficiently and safely as possible
- Online resources are available to help with emergency plan development, as is advice from organisations such as regional hubs and network groups
When a separate Business Continuity Plan has been (or is being) developed, it is essential that this is developed in conjunction with the Emergency Plan to ensure that there is no duplication of roles, and that the plans work together seamlessly.
