Assessing the environmental conditions

When assessing the storage environment, you first need to look at the environmental conditions in regards to the following:

Light levels

Ultraviolet (UV) and visible light from windows and lighting can damage objects, causing them to become brittle and/or faded. Measures can be put in place to minimise the amount of light that reaches the objects, but packaging such as boxes or covers can also provide protection from light.
