My London Story poetry competition

These terms and conditions apply to the ‘My London Story: Poems on the Bus’ poetry competition (the “competition”).

  1. The competition is run by the Museum of London and is free of charge to enter.
  2. To enter, children are challenged to write a poem inspired by the idea of a London bus journey.
  3. The competition is open to all children aged 11-16, who are normally resident in London, and/or who attend a school in London. For the purposes of this competition, London is defined as the 32 boroughs together with the City of London.
  4. Only one entry can be submitted per child.
  5. Entries must not exceed 22 lines in length.
  6. Incomplete, illegible or corrupt entries, or those not in accordance with the entry instructions, will not be accepted.
  7. During the judging process, shortlisted poems will be separated from entrants names to ensure anonymity and avoid any bias in judging.
  8. The judge’s decision is final.
  9. If the prize acceptance form is not returned by Friday 2 September 2022, a new winner will be selected.
  10. The prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. However, in the event of unforeseen circumstances the museum reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equal value. No cash equivalent of the prizes is available.
  11. The museum confirms that all poems and personal data are being collected solely for the purpose of administering the competition and will be kept securely. The personal data will be kept for the duration of the competition only, and disposed of securely after the competition ends, in compliance with data protection law.
  12. The museum will not publish any of the poetry, online or in physical format, without requesting permission from parents/guardians.
  13. We may need to pass your details to third parties in order to administer the competition and prizes, but in all cases your information will only be used for this purpose, and held only as long as is reasonable for the purposes of managing the competition.
  14. The museum may in its absolute discretion modify, amend, cancel or suspend these terms and conditions at any time if it deems necessary or if circumstances arise beyond its control.
  15. The museum reserves the right at its absolute discretion to disqualify from this competition any entrant who it believes has not complied with these terms and conditions or acted in good faith.
  16. The museum’s decisions are final in all matters relating to the competition and no correspondence will be entered into.
  17. By taking part in this competition all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions.
