"A whole succession of creatures provide an engaging way into history" - Evening Standard ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Step into a tour through London’s history, narrated by the animals who once lived here.

Beasts of London explores the fascinating role animals have played in shaping the capital. Be guided through time, from the Roman era through Medieval London and right up to present day, narrated by the beasts themselves. Discover how animals – from lions and elephants, to horses, rats and pigeons – have shaped the city and its beastly history.

Some of these creatures might sound a bit familiar, too: Kate Moss, Brian Blessed, Pam Ferris, Nish Kumar, Stephen Mangan, Angellica Bell and Joe Pasquale will be voicing some of the animals featured in the show.

Inspired by objects in our collection and created in partnership with Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Beasts of London is a fully immersive digital installation using video projection mapping. You'll walk through theatrical sets in which stories will be told through dramatic audio-visual presentations. You'll also discover some objects on display.

Beasts of London is supported by International Fund for Animal Welfare.

Practical information

Your ticket gives you a 30-minute time slot and you can arrive at the entrance to the experience at any point within these 30 minutes.

Once you're there, you will need to wait for a tour to start. Tours begin every seven minutes for 12 people at a time. Only ticket holders for the right time slot will be allowed in.

The whole experience lasts around an hour. Re-entry into the experience is not allowed – for example it's not possible to explore part of the experience, pop out and have lunch, and go in again later. If you need to leave the experience briefly this is fine – just ask the Host at the exhibition entrance know.

The animal's stories include good and bad experiences of living with humans, including scenes of hunting and captivity.
