London Stone has stood in the City of London for over a thousand years. Its origins and purpose are unknown, but Londoners have always claimed it has historical significance- or even magical powers. Now you can see it close-up, on display in the Museum of London's War, Plague and Fire gallery.

London Stone has been a landmark on Cannon Street for centuries, but the building that housed it is now being redeveloped. Until building work is completed, the stone will be on show at the museum, alongside a video detailing the object's history and the process of conserving it to last for another thousand years.

Watch the film below to see how London Stone was removed from Cannon Street and taken to its temporary home at the Museum of London.
