Discover life on board Captain Cook's voyages of discovery in our lively session.

Session description

Hear tales of exploration from Isaac Smith, shipmate of the famous Captain Cook. Learn all about the scientific discoveries that enabled world navigation, brush up on your sailing skills, and even make a sextant to take back to school.

Master's mate on Cook's expeditions, Smith was the first European to set foot on eastern Australian soil. He became a skilled artist and painted pictures of plants discovered in strange new lands.

Don't forget your sea legs!

Session duration:

 60 minutes plus 45 minute self-directed visit to Mudlarks, our children's gallery
