Supplementary schools programme
We're here to support children, young people and their wider communities engage in cultural and language learning – in the world’s greatest city!
The Museum of London’s supplementary schools programme offers a wide range of ways for community-run schools to connect with the museum and its collection.
We work in close partnership with the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education and a steering group made up of supplementary school group leaders. This ensures that our programme is creative and innovative, relevant and collaborative.

The programme is for groups who teach home/community languages, cultural heritage, faith and key curricular subjects outside of the mainstream school hours i.e. weekday evenings and weekends.
Our goal is to encourage excellence in supplementary education through:
- creative workshops, bespoke projects and events at our two museum sites
- workshops and community events delivered at school’s teaching base
- training and research initiatives
- partnerships and museum-wide advocacy.
