The Museum of London is pleased to offer one week work experience placements and dates for placements will be advertised here when available.
The Work Experience placements involve a range of activities and provide a general overview of the workings of a museum across a variety of departments. They run for 5 days (Monday-Friday) and are open to young people aged 14-18.
Dates for work experience placements in 2020:
1 May 2020 – Work Experience Insight Day
29 June to 3 July 2020 – Week 1
6 July to 10 July 2020 – Week 2
Due to the high number of applications for our work experience programme, all students are required to attend our Work Experience Insight Day. This is to provide students with a greater awareness of the museum prior to applying for a work experience placement. Students will have the opportunity to meet with staff, hear about the departments taking part in the programme and learn more about the career paths of those who will be working with them during their placement.
We will be accepting expressions of interest for our Summer 2020 work experience between Monday 24 February and Friday 27 March 2020. During this time please visit our Current Opportunities portal to register your interest. Priority will be given to students in Greater London and we will be in touch week commencing 13 April 2020 to let students know the outcome of their expression of interest.
Following the recent advice from the government and Public Health England surrounding COVID-19, the Museum of London and the Museum of London Docklands will be closed to the public as of Thursday 19 March.
The health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and community are of utmost importance to us and this decision is in response to increasing concerns surrounding COVID-19.
We will continue to closely review the advice from Public Health England and monitor the current situation of COVID-19 to keep people up to date on our plans.
Please check www.museumoflondon.org.uk for updates from the museum.
