Learn in a real working environment at the museum

The Work Experience placements involve a range of activities and provide a general overview of the workings of a museum across a variety of departments. They run for 5 days (Monday-Friday) and are open to young people aged 14-18.

Due to the high number of applications for our work experience programme, all students are required to attend our Work Experience Insight Day. This is to provide students with a greater awareness of the museum prior to applying for a work experience placement. Students will have the opportunity to meet with staff, hear about the departments taking part in the programme and learn more about the career paths of those who will be working with them during their placement.

Please note that our Summer 2020 work experience has been cancelled due to the disruptions related to COVID-19.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes and we will be exploring alternative ways of engaging with students who registered an interest in our 2020 programme.

Please check back on this page in future for further updates on when our next work experience programme will take place.
