Databases

Databases for collating your pest trapping data should be used in order to monitor the pest situation over time. Simple versions of these are available for free on the internet, or a basic spreadsheet can be created using Microsoft Excel.

The database should hold information on where the pest traps are located, when they were checked, and what was found in them – such as insect types and insect numbers. This can be used to create useful statistics for analysis.

The English Heritage database is ideal for this purpose, and can be downloaded free from the English Heritage website.
