Discover the magic of the Thames as we explore the historic myths and mysteries of the river with crafts, storytelling and family shows this May Bank Holiday weekend. In partnership with Cityread London.

Magical May Day stories
In London, when May blossoms, stories unfold. Even the river has its tales. Come hear stories of gods and goddesses, buried treasure and the magical creatures of the Thames as our storyteller weaves tales about London's enchanting rivers and the magical month of May.
12-12.30pm, 1.30pm-2pm & 3–3.30pm

Mythical masks
Dolphins, whales and seahorses are some of the amazing animals seen in the Thames. Could there be other unexpected creatures who call the river home? Are spirits and sprites beneath the water or perhaps Old Father Thames himself? Use your imagination and join us to create masks of mythical river creatures in this art workshop.
11am – 12.30pm, 2-3.30pm

Object handling
Experience the richness of the history of the River Thames in this object handling session. Touch real museum objects that were recovered from the river and learn how they were used by past Londoners.

Discover more about this magical city and learn all about the River Lea and the Thames with Thames 21 at this drop in activity.

Bollywood Punch and Judy
Have a laugh with Professor Patel and his Bollywood ‘Pungeet and Judygee show’ a modern reimagining of the classic Punch and Judy puppet show.

Comic workshop with Karen Rubins
Be inspired by the museum and all of the magical rivers of London and create your own comic strip in this art workshop. What stories will you tell?
