A photo portrait of Hass, Facilities Manager at the Museum of London.

Hass, Facilities Manager

"As the Facilities Manager, I’ve been working for the Museum of London for 2 years. I was given the opportunity to take up a permanent role in the museum after completing a 6 month temporary contract. The decision to stay on with the museum was easy as it is a great place to work with a great team. In my role I have completed a couple of office moves and fabric projects. As the Facilities Manager you certainly need to wear many hats and that’s where the support from colleagues has been fantastic, M&E Engineers, Head Electrician, Fabric Contractors, Gallery Staff, Security and Cleaning Team. I really enjoy being challenged and working in the museum."

Having such a supportive network around me means I am able to develop my own skills and confidence and the social events organised by HR and other colleagues mean I’ve made great friends at the museum."

Vyki, Curator of Social and Working History

"I love working at the Museum of London – amazing collections, friendly people and a really exciting future, especially with the New Museum on the horizon. The variety of the curatorial work I do here is exhilarating, from curating precious war medals to sewage! The museum is open to staff ideas, and trying new things, as I found through their support of my Museums Association Transformers project."

Cliff, Chief Technician

"As Chief Technician, I am responsible for overseeing the workshops operations. The technicians undertake object mounts, supports and framing for exhibitions and gallery displays, and maintain these displays to present the best public experience. Our work also involves providing technical support to most other museum departments. I enjoy working in this museum environment amongst such interesting and varied collections. No two days are the same and each brings its own challenges to be resolved – the bit I thrive on! It’s enlivening to work among such a professional, dedicated and friendly group of people, many of whom have become firm friends."

Sabrina, Administrative Assistant

“I began working here at the Museum as an apprentice for the Culture Mile Learning team where I gained my NVQ Level 3 Business Administration. I now work as an Administrative Assistant for the Directorate Team where I am directly supporting the Directors and Heads of Departments with administrative duties. I’m excited in this role as I’m deepening my understanding around the functionality of the Museum through the senior team. I’m pleased that I had taken the opportunity to continue to work for the Museum of London who have always shown great interest in helping me achieve my goals and aspirations.”

The saying goes that you 'learn something new every day,' and nowhere is that truer than at the Museum of London, where the fascinating story of this unbelievable city is brought to life and built upon every day by our Visitor Experience team.
